Sirmione is just one of those places that you absolutely have to visit. There is a reason they call it “the pearl of Lake Garda” and as soon as you enter the old city through the castle’s bridge, you’ll understand why. It just has something magical and romantic. For us it remains a “go to” spot every time we come back to Italy, for a nice evening stroll and a lovely dinner. Below you will find our top 3 personal favourites of restaurants/bars in Sirmione.
Osteria al Torcol
In Italy osteria are usually more simple and inexpensive restaurants, but this absolutely doesn’t mean that the food is of a lesser quality! It just has more of a relaxed, informal atmosphere as if you were invited at a friends house for dinner. You will find Osteria al Torcol at the end of a side street on the main road. We recommend to choose a table on the covered patio on the other side of the street in front of the restaurant entrance. The menu is varied and offers both fish and meat and has some vegetarian and vegan options as well.
Perfect for: a classic Italian lunch or dinner with intimate atmosphere and good cuisine (without emptying your wallet!)
If you have something to celebrate or if you simply don’t mind spending a bit more for dinner, then “La Speranzina” is definitely a restaurant to try out. You wouldn’t guess it if you look at the restaurant from outside, but behind the long stone wall you will find a lovely garden and terrace that directly overlooks the beautiful Lake Garda. The food is top notch quality and the menu definitely offers something different with respect to the many restaurants that Sirmione offers. Of course as you would expect from a high quality restaurant, a lot of attention is paid also to the presentation of the plates and the most important thing according to us; service.
Perfect for: a romantic dinner for two!
Pasticceria La Fenice
When you are done exploring Sirmione’s old city centre and you have a car, visit La Fenice for a nice glass of prosecco, an ice cream or one of their delicious pastries. You will remember this place for the Liberty style interior and gorgeous garden terrace directly on Lake Garda. You could even dip your toes! Did we already mention that they serve breakfast as well? What better way to start the day than with a cappuccino and delicious brioche while enjoying the view?
Perfect for: breakfast, ice cream, aperitif, drinks after dinner…any excuse will do!
